Quivira Vineyards

HUGH CHAPPELLE: Winemaker

At Quivira Vineyards, Hugh Chappelle utilizes his warm and cool climate experiences so his wines deliver the bold varietal character yet also demonstrate balance and finesse. He began his career in the Sierra foothills working with Zinfandel. Hugh then pursued new opportunities, first on the Sonoma Coast with Flowers Vineyard & Winery where he took over winemaking from 2000 to 2004, and then he became Director of Winemaking at Lynmar Estate in the Russian River Valley. Hugh was drawn to Quivira’s unique terroir and became winemaker in 2010. Hugh is committed to organic farming with Zinfandels and Sauvignon Blancs that have consistently earned Wine Spectator’s Ultimate Guide to Value year after year, and a Grenache-based Provencal style Rose, the 2017 marked the 15th consecutive vintage from Quivira.

Collier Falls Winery

Barry Collier – Owner

I was raised a city boy in Washington, D.C. and lived and worked my entire career marketing consumer products in New York, Detroit, Chicago, London and Los Angeles. I can hardly recognize myself when I look in the mirror. I have been transformed into a farmer with a new appreciation and sensibility for the environment and the need to preserve this valley’s bucolic nature for future generations. I’ve always had a passion for wine, and for the last 20 years I’ve farmed our vines to express the unique characteristics of our fruit. Great wines are all about the vineyard, and the goal is to extract and retain the most of what each vineyard has to say about itself. I live in a small home in the vineyard built in 1929, strive to be a good neighbor and give back to the community. I served as a volunteer firefighter for the Geyserville Fire Protection District for 5 years and currently serve on the board of the Shone Farm Foundation, the organization that provides direction for Santa Rosa Junior College farm products; from cattle to grapes and wine. I’m also a past president and current board member of the Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley. My son, Josh, just joined the family business and I hope one day that my other son, Adam, does the same. I have never lived longer in one place than I have in Dry Creek Valley and cannot visualize living anywhere else.

Vineyard of Pasterick

Gerry and Diane Pasterick

Gerry Pasterick has been involved in the wine industry since 1968 and as a family, the Pastericks have nurtured a lifelong love of wine. After years of searching for what they felt was the right vineyard, Gerry and Diane discovered a small property on West Dry Creek Road in beautiful Dry Creek Valley in April 1998. The 3,400 sq. ft. Pasterick Wine Cave was dug into the 120 million year old Granite hillside in 2007. The winery produces approximately 1,000 cases of premium Estate Syrah, Rosé and Viognier wines from 10 acres of Estate vines planted to Syrah and Viognier on steep hillsides. In 2019, Vineyard of Pasterick will have in bottle and available for the cruise their 2016 Cabernet ~ Hermitaged with Estate Syrah. This Cabernet fruit is from hand selected and long established hillside vineyards here in beautiful Dry Creek Valley from both the Western and the Eastern hillsides.

West Wines

Katrina Bonde and Bengt Akerlind – Owners

When we acquired vineyards in Dry Creek Valley in 1998, our dream was to combine grapes grown in the fantastic California climate with traditional European style winemaking. We started focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon in a Bordeaux style with two years of barrel ageing followed by at least 4 years in the bottle for every release. We hold back around 10% of each Cabernet vintage in order to be able to offer much appreciated vertical tastings of earlier vintages in our tasting room. We also use Cabernet Sauvignon as a base to blend with other Bordeaux grapes as well as Sangiovese. Today our portfolio also contains Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, all made in a crisper European style as well as late harvest dessert wine and a sparkling wine from our Chardonnay grapes.  Katarina is the winemaker while Bengt focuses on the vineyards.
